5 Days Kenya Wildlife Safari

Overview

This five day group joining safari works its way down the Rift Valley from the Masai Mara through Lake Nakuru to Lake Naivasha, finishing with a day at Hell’s Gate National Park. It is the shortest of our itineraries that includes a walking or cycling day, which is what makes it stand out from a straight game drive circuit.You get two nights in the Mara with a full day of game viewing, a morning in Lake Nakuru’s rhino sanctuary, and then Hell’s Gate, where red cliffs, the volcanic plugs of Fischer’s Tower and Central Tower and a gorge leading down to hot springs can all be explored on foot or by bicycle. Park entrance fees, full board accommodation, all meals on safari and mineral water are included throughout.

   Pickup from the airport or your hotel starts the day, with breakfast and a safari briefing to follow before you depart for the Masai Mara National Reserve. Along the way you’ll stop to take in the view over the Great Rift Valley and break for lunch in Narok. On arrival, head out on an afternoon game drive before settling in for dinner and overnight at your camp.

   Masai Mara NR Full Day

   Spend today entirely within the Masai Mara, departing camp with picnic lunch boxes to make the most of the reserve’s game-rich plains. Its dense network of roads allows for close encounters with the resident wildlife, and lunch is taken at the Hippo Pool. Dinner and overnight follow back at the camp, with an optional early-morning balloon safari available at extra cost.

   This morning offers the chance for an optional Maasai village tour at extra cost, giving a window into traditional Maasai life. You’ll then travel on to Lake Nakuru National Park, arriving for dinner and overnight at your hotel.

   Lake Nakuru NP-Lake Naivasha Hell's Gate

   An early breakfast is followed by a game drive through Lake Nakuru National Park, celebrated for its birdlife and as a sanctuary for both black and white rhino. The park also shelters colobus monkey, leopard, giraffe and a range of plains antelope. In the late afternoon, continue to Naivasha for dinner and overnight; a boat ride and visit to Crescent Island can be arranged at extra cost.

   Lake Naivasha-Nairobi

   After an early breakfast depart the hotel and drive to Hell’s Gate National Park, where you can cycle or enjoy a drive. Lake Naivasha is one of the few places where you can explore on foot. The park has attractions such as Olkaria and Hobley’s, two extinct volcanoes, and obsidian formed from cooled molten lava. Within Hell’s Gate is Hell’s Gate Gorge, lined with red cliffs and containing two volcanic plugs, Fischer’s Tower and Central Tower, with a smaller gorge extending to the south where a path descends to hot springs. Later, with your lunch on the way, you depart Naivasha for Nairobi arriving in the afternoon. You will be dropped at your hotel or at the airport to connect with your flight to your next destination.
