This 12 Day Kenya and Tanzania Group Joining Safari is the most varied of our cross border itineraries, pairing the headline game parks with the freshwater lakes and gorges of the Rift Valley. After two nights in the Masai Mara National Reserve you visit Lake Nakuru National Park for its rhino and birdlife, then Lake Naivasha and Hell’s Gate National Park, where red cliffs, volcanic plugs and hot springs can be explored on foot or by bicycle, a rare chance to leave the vehicle behind.From Amboseli beneath Mount Kilimanjaro the safari crosses at Namanga into Tanzania, continuing through Lake Manyara National Park and the Serengeti before descending into the Ngorongoro Crater. Travelling as a small group in a 4×4 Land Cruiser with a hatch roof keeps costs down while park entrance fees, accommodation, all meals on safari and a professional English speaking guide remain included throughout.

   Your LagoonScenic Holidays guide meets you at the airport or your hotel, with breakfast to follow. You will be introduced to your guide and given a full briefing regarding your safari programme. Once these final details are settled you depart for Maasai Mara via the Great Rift Valley. You will stop at the Rift Valley viewpoint to take in the scenic views of this amazing landscape, then proceed to Masai Mara arriving in time for lunch. After lunch you will have an afternoon game drive. Maasai Mara offers excellent big cat encounters and is regarded by many travellers as an essential stop on any tour of Africa. You will see golden grassland plains dotted with acacia, wildebeest, zebras, lions and jackals, and enjoy game viewing in search of the lion, the leopard, the cheetah and the rhino until late evening. Dinner and overnight at the camp or Lodge.

   You will have a full day game drive. You leave the camp with picnic lunch boxes to spend the entire day in the park. The landscape here is scenic savannah grassland on rolling hills. The reserve is the best park for game in Kenya as it has an extensive road and track network which allows for close range viewing and photography. Break for your picnic lunch at the hippo pool, looking out for hippos and crocodiles. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge or camp.

   After breakfast, there’s the option of a Maasai village visit for an additional fee. From there, continue to Lake Nakuru National Park, arriving for dinner and overnight at your hotel or lodge.

   Lake Nakuru National Park- Lake Naivasha

   After an early breakfast, proceed into Lake Nakuru National Park, well known for the many different bird species recorded here and as a home to both the black and the white rhinoceros. The park was established for the protection of endangered species such as the rhino and is also home to colobus monkeys, leopards, giraffes and a variety of plains antelope. Late in the afternoon, drive to Naivasha arriving in the evening. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the Hotel or Lodge.

   Lake Naivasha-Hells Gate-Amboseli

   After an early breakfast depart the hotel and drive to Hell’s Gate for registration. Here you can cycle or enjoy a drive, as Lake Naivasha is one of the few places where you can explore on foot. Hell’s Gate National Park has attractions such as Olkaria and Hobley’s, two extinct volcanoes, and obsidian formed from cooled molten lava. Within the park is Hell’s Gate Gorge, lined with red cliffs and containing two volcanic plugs, Fischer’s Tower and Central Tower, with a smaller gorge extending to the south where a path descends to hot springs. Later, with your hot lunch on the way, proceed to Amboseli National Park to arrive in the evening. You will be dropped at the Lodge or camp for dinner and overnight.

   After breakfast your guide will pick you up with your picnic lunch boxes and proceed for a full day of game drives in this park, which contains swamp grounds where elephants and hippos bathe in abundance. A variety of plains game, antelopes and birds can also be seen, and Mount Kilimanjaro’s peak too if weather conditions permit. Return to the Lodge or camp for dinner and overnight.

    Serengeti-Ngorongoro Crater

    After breakfast your guide will pick you up and proceed to your final game viewing as you drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area with your lunch enroute, arriving in the afternoon. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the seven wonders of Africa. Later you will be dropped at the camp or Lodge for dinner and overnight.

    Head down into the Ngorongoro Crater this morning for a final morning of game viewing on the safari, exploring grassland, forest and lake habitats within the caldera. After a picnic lunch on the crater floor, you ascend and continue to Arusha, arriving in time to check into your hotel.

    Breakfast this morning is followed by transfer to the shuttle terminal for the AM bus to Nairobi. The crossing takes most of the day, and you’ll be dropped at your hotel or the airport on arrival in the afternoon.
